Cultivating Interoceptive Awareness (CIA)

The process known as Interoception, formed by the continuous awareness and perceptual integration of the physiological condition of the organs and tissues of our body, shapes our day to day perceptual awareness of “Self” (I) and underlies the neurobiology of subjective feelings.

Current science links both the Default Mode Network (DMN),  a brain network involved in non task oriented self reflective activities, and the subcortical Insula (Insular Cortex), to interoceptive awareness.
Of special interest is the Anterior Insular Cortex, where objective (measurable) topographic representations of sensations merge into “subjective” feelings. Feelings, primarily a patients’s perspective,  is an aspect of human health that has been neglected and is responsible for the unresolved and rising levels of distress around the world, especially in industrialized societies.

Advanced imaging techniques that explore functional connectivity (e.g., fMRI) are helping us understand the relevant processes that form a core of our Identity Matrix, a multidimensional entity with biological, psychological, and sociological components.

Interoception represents an area for advanced practitioners of internal energy cultivation techniques (e.g., Chi Kung, Yoga) to guide clients on their lifelong personal journey of  Discovery.

Want to move away from cultivating patterns of living that lead to the lifelong drug dependencies fostered by our healthcare system?

More specifically, find our own answers to deeply personal questions about the reasons that we are here, on this material plane. At the Spirit level, these answers will not appear till we have learned to see ourselves as we truly are.

Make sense of the world we inhabit. Avoid making a life out of patterns of conspicuous consumption.
To each, their own.

We will need the disciplines associated with long term commitment. There is no rush.
We have the rest of our lives to cultivate the CIA skills needed to launch exciting adventures every day.
